Labra


Features of Labra

Served as side dish. Vegetarian dish. A cuisine from West Bengal(Eastern India). Speciality: A cuisine for Durga Puja/Sharodiya festival.

Ingredients for Labra   (Click here for measurement conversion)

Vegetables Kumro (Pumpkin), Potato, Sweet Potato, Eggplant, Radish, Jhinge (sponge gourd) chopped into pieces

1/2 teaspoon Panch Phoron (Black Mustard Seed, Onion seed, Aniseed, Fenugreek and Cumin seeds)

Salt and Sugar to taste

2 Tablespoon Oil

Fried and finely grounded Cumin Seeds

Method for making Labra

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the panch-phoron in low flame. Add the vegetables and fry. Add salt and sugar and keep frying in medium heat till the vegetables are cooked. Add water if necessary. Cover and let it simmer. Sprinkle cumin powder and remove from heat.
