Malpoa

Served as dessert. Vegetarian dish. A cuisine from West Bengal(Eastern India). Speciality: A cuisine for Durga Puja/Sharodiya festival.

Ingredients for Malpoa   (Click here for measurement conversion)

50 gm Smolina

240 gm Flour

Water as required

3 - 4 large black Cardamom seeds

Oil for frying

250 gm Sugar

500 ml Water

Method for making Malpoa

Whisk together, the flour and semolina adding enough water to make a thick batter. Add the cardamom seeds, a pinch of salt and sugar and stir well. Heat oil in a small pan. Deep fry one spoonful of batter at a time into mildly simmering oil. The batter spreads to make Malpoa of 5 inch diameter. Soak in prepared syrup. Remove from syrup to serve.
