Grated cheddar – 110 gm
Unsalted butter – 55 gm
Whole milk - 1/4 cup
Corn flour - 1 Tablespoon
Ground pepper – as needed
Salt - to taste
Red onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
Toasted bread - 4

Method for making Cheese and Onion on Toast
|

Melt butter in a heavy based saucepan. Add ground pepper and do not allow butter to brown. Add the corn flour and beat constantly to mix well. Gradually add the milk. Continue to cook over a medium heat until the sauce thickens. Add the grated cheese and mix in well. Add the chopped onions and cook gently for 2 - 3 minutes. Spread the cheese and onion mixture over the toasted bread. Place under a pre heated grill until golden brown. Serve hot.
