2 Tablespoons Ghee(Clarified Butter)

4 cups grated Carrot

1/2 cup Milk powder

2 Tablespoons Condensed Milk

2 Tablespoons Sugar

2 Tablespoons Raisins

2 Tablespoons chopped Nuts Almonds and Cahewnuts

1/2 teaspoon Cardamom (Elaichi) powder

2 Tablespoons fresh Cream, beaten well

Almond Slivers for garnishing

Method for making Gajar Halwa (microwave)

Pour the melted clarified butter(ghee) in a microwave-safe large deep bowl. Mix in the grated carrot and microwave covered on high (100%) power for about 5 minutes. Mix in the rest of the ingredients except the fresh cream and microwave covered on high (100%) power for about 4 minutes.

Cooking time: 8-10 minutes

Tips:

Condensed milk can be replaced with khoya if available.
The quantity of sugar can be increased or decreased as per taste.
Ghee may be readily available off the shelf in Indian stores. However, it is important that it be fresh stock.
When the microwave cooking time for a step exceeds 2 minutes, it is highly recommended the contents be checked and stirred at regular intervals to avoid burning of food. Standing time is a very important step as it completes the microwave cooking process of a dish. Ideally, allow the dish to stand for about 5 minutes before serving.
